2014 Minor League Draft 1) Clint Frazier - Loganville (GA) - HS - (Drafted by Indians ) - $3,500,000 - 5th overall pick in 2013 - MLB #48 Prospect - ETA-2017 Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 65 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60 Frazier was the first high school position player selected in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, and he got a $3.5 million signing bonus, the largest the Indians have ever given out. Cleveland was delighted to be able to take him with the fifth overall choice and envisions him as a future five-tool center fielder. Frazier stands out most for his power, which his exceptional bat speed helps create. His advanced approach at the plate and short swing help him to consistently barrel up balls. Defensively, Frazier should be able to cover enough ground to stay in center field, but if he does have to move, his strong arm would profile well in right field. Frazier isn't overly physical, which gives some scouts pause, but his overall array of tools and makeup help him overcome any concerns about his size.
2) Hunter Renfroe - OF - Mississippi State -(Signed by Padres -$2,678,000 - 13th overall pick in 1st round 2013 finished his amateur career with a bang. The 21-year-old outfielder was one of the top players in the college ranks, hitting a robust .345, with 16 home runs, at Mississippi State. The San Diego Padres were impressed. They took him with the 13th overall pick in the June draft. Renfroe’s tool kit includes more than a lethal bat from the right side. He also has plus wheels and a gun in the outfield. Originally drafted out of high school by the Red Sox, he had pro potential at multiple positions, including pitcher and catcher. Renfroe had a solid first professional season. In 43 games between Eugene and Fort Wayne he hit .271, with 20 of his 46 hits going for extra bases.
3) Ryan Stanek - RHP - Arkansas - (Signed by Rays - $1,755,800 - 29th overall pick in 1st round 2013
4) Corey Knebel - RHP - Texas - (Signed by the Tigers - $1,433,400 - 39th overall pick in 1st round Supplemental
5) Cord Sandberg - OF - Manatee, HS, Bradenton, FL - Signed by the Phillies - $775,000 - 89th overall pick in 3rd round 2013
6) Andrew Thurman - RHP - UC Irvine - (signed by Astros - $1,397,200 - 40th overall pick in 2nd round 2013
7) Micker Zapata - OF - Whitesox The White Sox signed 16-year-old Dominican Republic outfielder Micker Adolfo Zapata, the No. 2-ranked player on MLB.com's list of Top International Prospects, on Tuesday, the first day of the international signing period. Zapata signed for $1.6 million, the largest amount ever spent by the White Sox for an international signing. The 6-foot-3, 199-pound Zapata has plus-plus power, a strong arm and impressive bat speed. He is a right-handed hitter who profiles to be a center fielder with the ability to play the corners
8) Riley Unroe - SS - Rays - (Desert Ridge HS, Mesa, Ariz. , signed for $997,500 - 60th overall pick in 2nd round 2013. Ranked #53 by Baseball America. He has soft hands and a strong arm and is a heady player who is always in the right position. He's versatile enough that he could play second base or center field and is a well above-average runner. A lifelong switch-hitter, Unroe shows electric bat speed and profiles to hit 12-15 home runs as a pro, even though he's just 6 feet and 180 pounds. Scouts and coaches love the way he plays the game, and he has excellent makeup and international experience as a two-time member of Team USA with the 14-and-under in 2009 and the 18-and-under team last summer. It will likely take a seven-figure bonus to pry Unroe away from his commitment to Southern California.
9) Jose Almonte - OF - Rangers
10) Luis Encarnacion - 3B - Phillies
11) Jordan Paraoubeck - OF - Padres
12) Tucker Neuhaus - SS - Brewers
13) Michael de La Cruz - OF - Pirates
14) Oscar Hernandez - C - Rays

TOTAL 40-MAN ROSTER SALARY: $85,725,000.00
Astros Minor League Keepers: 1) Jonathan Singleton - 1B - MLB#50 - ETA 2014 Scouting Grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 60 | Run: 30 | Arm: 40 | Field: 50 | Overall: 55 Originally drafted by the Phillies and dealt to the Astros in the July 2011 Hunter Pence deal, Singleton has developed into the top first-base prospect in baseball. He never seemed to get on track in 2013 after starting the season with a 50-game suspension for a second positive test for a drug of abuse. Still, he is just 22 and all of his tools remain intact. Singleton produces raw power and knows how to leverage it for home runs. He is a patient hitter and knows how to work a walk. He is prone to strikeouts and will need to improve his contact rate to fully unlock his power. He is a below-average runner. Before trading him, the Phillies tried Singleton in left field, but he is strictly a first baseman now. He is a capable defender there, though his success will ultimately be determined by how well he hits
2) Carlos Correa -SS - MLB#8 - ETA 2016 Scouting Grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 70 | Run: 50 | Arm: 70 | Field: 50 | Overall: 65 In a Draft class that also included Byron Buxton and Mark Appel, taking Correa No. 1 overall in 2012 was something of a surprise. But Correa was worthy of the selection and showed why in 2013, his first full professional season. As an 18-year-old, he helped lead Class A Quad Cities to the Midwest League title and led the circuit with a .872 OPS. Though Correa is still physically maturing, he already has above-average power. He has a balanced swing and a good approach at the plate. He is an average runner. Correa has a strong arm, soft hands and good defensive instincts, all of which could help him stay at shortstop. Some scouts feel he will outgrow the position, but so far he has shown he can handle shortstop.
3) George Springer -OF - MLB#21 - ETA 2014 Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 70 | Run: 60 | Arm: 60 | Field: 60 | Overall: 60 Springer had a season for the ages in 2013. He became the third Minor Leaguer in 40 years to hit 30 home runs and steal 40 bases, and he finished three homers shy of the first 40-40 season in the Minor Leagues in at least 50 years. Springer's power and speed stand out the most, but he is a solid all-around player. He has the ability to hit for average, though there is a lot of swing-and-miss in his game that he will need to cut down on. Springer's speed translates well to the outfield, where he covers a lot of ground. His strong arm would play well in right field if that's where he ends up. He earns high marks for his makeup and energy. Springer ended the 2013 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, and it won't be long before he makes his Major League debut.
4) Delino Deshields Jr. - 2B - MLB#66 - ETA 2015 Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Run: 70 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 55 Much like his father, a former Major League outfielder by the same name, DeShields profiles as a leadoff hitter. He is a well-above-average runner and knows how to use his speed on the basepaths. He stole 101 bases in 2012, and while that total fell to 51 in 2013, he remains a threat to run anytime he gets on base. DeShields has a quick, compact swing and does a good job of putting the bat on the ball. His quick wrists generate good bat speed and a surprising amount of pop. The Astros made DeShields a second baseman after drafting him in the first round in 2010, but they moved him back to his natural position of center field during the Arizona Fall League in 2013. He is a good fit in the outfield, where his speed plays up.
5) Lance McCullers - RHP - MLB#52 - ETA 2016 Scouting Grades: Fastball: 70 | Curveball: | Changeup: 45 | Control: 45 | Overall: 55 McCullers was considered one of the top high school pitchers in the 2012 Draft but slid due to signability. The Astros were able to ink him anyway and he made an impressive full-season debut at Class A Quad Cities in 2013. McCullers, the son of the former Padres right-hander by the same name, succeeds thanks to his excellent fastball-curveball combination. His fastball sits in the mid- to upper-90s with good movement. His breaking ball has different shapes and sizes, but the best ones look like hard, late curveballs. The rest of McCullers' game isn't as advanced as those two pitches, but shows promise. Though he has improved his changeup as a professional, he still has work to do on the pitch and he needs to tighten his command as well. Some scouts still feel he is best suited for a role in short relief like his father, but there is growing sentiment he can make it as a starter.
6) Mike Foltynewicz - RHP - MLB #54 - ETA 2015 Scouting Grades: Fastball: 80 | Curveball: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 55 Foltynewicz has continued to build off his breakout 2012 season. He made just seven starts at Class A Advanced Lancaster before the Astros promoted him to Double-A Corpus Christi in 2013. Foltynewicz is a pure power pitcher. His fastball sits in the mid- to upper-90s and has been clocked in the triple digits. Like most young flame throwers, he needs to tighten up his command and improve the consistency of his offspeed pitches. His changeup is his best secondary offering and his downer curveball has the promise of giving him another average or better pitch. As they do with most of their pitching prospects, the Astros have used Foltynewicz as both a starter and a reliever. While some scouts see him more as a closer, he has the tools necessary to fit into a Major League rotation one day.
7) Rio Ruiz - 3B - Drafted in 4th round in 2012 - ETA-2016 8) Kevin Comer - RHP - 2015 9) Joe Musgrove - RHP - 2015
10) Nolan Fontana - SS - 2015 Fontana, the Astros' second-round pick (61st overall) in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft and No. 8 overall prospect, showed some progress at the plate last season at hitter-friendly Lancaster, hitting .259 with 18 doubles, six triples, eight homers and 60 RBIs in 104 games in the High Class A California League. And, of course, he walked 102 times in 104 games for a .415 on-base percentage
11) Vincent Velasquez - RHP - 2016 Velasquez is a 21 year old right hander drafted in the second round of the 2010 draft. In 2013 Velasquez began the season in low A Quad City. He would make 16 starts for the River Bandits recording a 3.19 era and piling up 123 K’s in 110 innings. He would also see a promotion to high A Lancaster where he started 3 more games before the end of the season. His final numbers for the 2013 season were a 3.54 era and 142 strikeouts in 124 innings. 12 Domingo Santana - OF - 2014 13 Carlos Perez - C - 2014 14) Ariel Ovando - OF 15) Asher Wojchiechewski-SP
Phillies Minor League Keepers
1) Jesse Biddle - LHP -MLB#53 -ETA 2014 Scouting Grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 55 Drafted by his hometown team, Biddle took a step forward in 2013. He pitched in the Futures Game, and his 154 strikeouts ranked third in the Eastern League. Biddle has drawn comparisons to Andy Pettitte, both for his size and his stuff. Biddle throws his fastball in the low-90s from a three-quarters arm slot. He throws a changeup and a big, sweeping curveball, which is his best offspeed pitch. All three of his pitches have a chance to be at least Major League-average offerings. Biddle has struggled with his control throughout his professional career, and finding a way to improve it will be critical to his success as a starter in the Major Leagues. If he can lower his walk rate, Biddle profiles as a middle-of-the-rotation starter.
2) Brody Colvin - RHP - 2014 3) Tommy Joseph - C - 2014 4) Larry Greene - Of/1B - 2015 5) Sebastian Valle - C - 2014 6) Shane Watson - RHP - 2016 7) Cesar Hernandez - 2B - 2014 8) Julio Rodriguez - RHP - 2014 9) Mitch Walding - 3B - 2016 10) Mitch Gueller - RHP - 2016
11) Maikel Franco - 3B - MLB #26 -ETA 2014Scouting Grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 70 | Run: 30 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60 Franco has done nothing but hit since finding his footing as a 19-year old in the South Atlantic League in 2012. In 2013, he split his time between Class A Advanced Clearwater and Double-A Reading and led all Phillies Minor Leaguers in batting average (.320), home runs (31) and RBI (103). Franco's best tool is his power, which he has begun to tap into more as he matures. His quick hands allow him to drive the ball to all fields. Franco is a bottom of the scale runner. Despite his lack of speed, he is a solid defender at third base and has a strong arm. The Phillies has given him some time at first base, but a position change is not necessarily in store for Franco. 12) Aaron Altherr - OF - 2015 13) Gabriel Lino - C - 2016 14) Kenny Giles - RHP 15) Austin Wright - LHP 16) Kevin Brady - RHP 17) Ethan Martin - RHP Minor League Player selected during the season 2013: 1) C.J. MCelroy - OF - STL ( picked in the 3rd round in 2011, signed for $510,000 The son of longtime big league reliever Chuck McElroy, outfielder C.J. McElroy draws comparisons to Michael Bourn. His plus-plus speed stands out both on the diamond and on the gridiron. A running back who ran for 1,523 yards and accounted for 28 touchdowns last fall, he signed a football scholarship to play wide receiver at Houston. He also finished seventh at the Texas 5-A track meet in the long jump. At 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, McElroy won't have much power, but he has a solid righthanded stroke, good pitch-recognition skills and the ability to handle velocity. He's a big-time stolen base threat and covers a lot of ground in center field. His arm is below-average Trade Acquisitions: 1) Dylan Bundy -SP - BAL - MLB# 20 - ETA 2014Scouting Grades: Fastball: 70 | Curveball: 65 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 60 | Overall: 60 Bundy was so advanced as a prep star in Oklahoma that scouts viewed him more like a college pitcher than one in high school. He lived up to that evaluation, racing to the Major Leagues in his first full professional season as a 19-year-old. But his progress hit a roadblock in 2013 when he underwent Tommy John surgery in June. When healthy, Bundy is as dynamic as any pitcher in the Minor Leagues. His fastball sits in the mid- to upper 90s and has touched triple digits. His best secondary pitch as an amateur was his cutter, but the Orioles took it away to force him to improve his other offspeed offerings. His curveball and changeup have both improved and both have plus potential. Bundy is an exceptional athlete and his work ethic and makeup are very well regarded. He profiles as a frontline starter if he can make a full recovery from surgery 2014 Minor League Draft1) Clint Frazier - Loganville (GA) - HS - (Drafted by Indians ) - $3,500,000 - 5th overall pick in 2013 - MLB #48 Prospect - ETA-2017 Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 65 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60 Frazier was the first high school position player selected in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, and he got a $3.5 million signing bonus, the largest the Indians have ever given out. 2) Hunter Renfroe - OF - Mississippi State -(Signed by Padres -$2,678,000 - 13th overall pick in 1st round 2013finished his amateur career with a bang. 3) Ryan Stanek - RHP - Arkansas - (Signed by Rays - $1,755,800 - 29th overall pick in 1st round 20134) Corey Knebel - RHP - Texas - (Signed by the Tigers - $1,433,400 - 39th overall pick in 1st round Supplemental5) Cord Sandberg - OF - Manatee, HS, Bradenton, FL - Signed by the Phillies - $775,000 - 89th overall pick in 3rd round 20136) Andrew Thurman - RHP - UC Irvine - (signed by Astros - $1,397,200 - 40th overall pick in 2nd round 20137) Micker Zapata - OF - Whitesox The White Sox signed 16-year-old Dominican Republic outfielder Micker Adolfo Zapata, the No. He is a right-handed hitter who profiles to be a center fielder with the ability to play the corners 8) Riley Unroe - SS - Rays - (Desert Ridge HS, Mesa, Ariz. , signed for $997,500 - 60th overall pick in 2nd round 2013. 9) Jose Almonte - OF - Rangers 10) Luis Encarnacion - 3B - Phillies 11) Jordan Paraoubeck - OF - Padres
