OK guys. Adam (Rays) and I have been going back and forth on this. It's probably something we should address and decide on. Maybe implement something in our rules moving forward.
I dropped Doubront earlier in the season. Responsible for 25% of his contract this year. Then someone else just got him on the free agent market and signed him to a 2 year deal.
Andrew dropped Lincecum a month or so ago. He's responsible for 25% of the salary 2013/2014. I then bid via the blind email system and after a week was the only email that came in. I got him for considerably less and now have him on a 3 year deal.
Adam just dropped Teixeira to make room for one of his free agent signings. He's on the hook for 25% of that big contract this year. Now his concern is that as the rules are now, anyone could get him for a steal which might begin to unbalance the league.
I'm going to post our emails here too. Please chime in.

From Adam (Colorado Rays) - Wait, so someone is going to sign Tex to like a 6 year 10million dollar a year deal then right? I thought they just fell off and went back into the pool for next year.
Teams aren't paying attention right now. The process for wagering on players dropped should be open bidding. There should be a thread on our message board titled Mark Teixeira and in it everyone should open bid for him or we're going to run into un-authentic situations like Lincecum getting signed for 3 years 3 million. It's unrealistic and not in the spirit of the league

My response to Adam via email - I agree with you. League's not paying attention. Although I didn't do anything underhanded. I put in a bid and anyone could have also after Andrew released Freak.
Maybe we should have a folder with any released player. But then there's no blind bidding on said player. So you're proposing that any free agents out there that weren't signed on a roster to begin a season can be done via blind bidding, but any player who's dropped needs to go in a folder on the board?
Same could be said for Doubront, right? I dropped him earlier in the year. Then someone else just got him via blind bid email contract offer and now has him for 2 years.
Let's discuss all this on the board. All owners aren't responding to my emails. Let's put this there and get guys back on the board.

Just a reminder, as the rules are now, any free agents can be offered contracts via blind emails at fablindbids@gmail.com. I don't access this account at all during the week as bids are allowed up until 11:59pm Friday nights. I go into the Gmail account on the weekend and post the winning bids in a new folder here on ProBoards every weekend, effective for the coming scoring period.
What Adam and I are proposing is that this system continues for any players that were not on rosters to begin a season. Blind bidding on them via email and then the largest contract offer gets said player. On the other hand, any players under contract that are dropped from a team during the season would go into a new folder/thread on the board. Such players would be up for open free agent bidding similar to our off-season free agent bidding draft. This would be done for players like Doubront, Lincecum and Teixeira who have been dropped from teams this season while under contracts.
