With Rizzo hurt, I was in desperate need of a 1B, so this discussion started with Paredes. If he were eligible to be Prospect tagged, we might have gotten to a smaller deal, but since he is only RFA'able, we expanded the deal quite a bit. I get my first baseman and a prospect that I have very high hopes for. Jarrod gets Sandy, controlled for an extra year and then Prospect taggable, along with several other pieces that can help him both this year and in the future. Big thanks to Jarrod for a great few days of negotiations to get this one done!

I really really hate to give up Chourio. However, with McClanahan unable to stay healthy, I needed pitching. Pretty clear I’m likely not going to catch 1st or maybe 2nd this year so I turn my sights to next year. With this trade, I have quality depth for next season and possibly beyond. Great talks with drew. Hopefully both sides work out well. Thanks for the back & forth.
