Hey guys, question for you.
Back at the beginning of February we allowed Andrew to drop Chris Carpenter as he's definitely out for the season and appears his career may be over. We are not holding Andrew responsible for that contract in this case of probable retirement.
As of today I am in the same boat with Johan Santana. Before the season has begun, it's been announced that he will be out for the entire season and may also be heading to retirement. Am I able to release him without being responsible for his 2-year contract that I signed him to in our FA bidding?

I drafted mat gamel, and then 2 hours later read that he was going to be out for the year. To me, this is the same thing - they both happened after the roster lock date.
I don't know the context of carpenter (ie if it was before or after lock date) but assuming it was before I definitely see an argument to not allow any more drops like this. If we do though, like I said I see no reason why I can't also drop gamel.

I think that Andrew was allowed to drop Carpenter as a part of the one additional move rule which we had recently agreed upon. I don't think at this point that it is fair to allow that change now. Otherwise it takes the risk out of drafting injury prone guys.
