Franchise & Restricted Tag & DL Question

I have a few things I wanted to get clarified....

1. Franchise Tag - Do we get one of these each season or is it just one for the life of owenership? What happens if the player ends up only signing a 1 year deal? Are you out of luck? As an example a few years back Beltre signed with BOS for what Boras calls a pillow contract for 1 year before signing a long term deal with Tex the following season.

2. Restricted tag - Was it ever decided how many we get?

3. DL - I belive it was decided we get 2 DL spots? Are you required to bring a player off the DL as soon as they are active or can you choose when to activate them? This leads me to this question. You have someone go down with an injury so you DL them and sign a replacement, you were at 40 players so when your DL player becomes active you'll need to waive somebody. Are you forced to lose the 25% or 50% of the 500K it cost you to sign a temp replacement who you were only signing until your injured player was ready?

3A: Since we have a limited number of DL spots, I would assume we can keep them on the DL as long as you dont make any 25 man roster moves or add/drops/trades just like how it works on yahoo.

3B: I think if we had some kind of "option" system where we can move players from the 40 man to the minors (even if not minors eligible), then you can keep that player (and the 500k salary WOULD count against the cap) in the minors. The player would have to pass through waivers first, so a team can just decide to take the player and you can't pull him back. This could potentially mean you have more than 40 players with salaries counting against your cap, but it would get rid of a bunch of wasted 125k and 250k cap penalties throughout the year.

If someone were to claim them after you put them on waivers would you get your 500K back ?

yes, the claiming team would then assume the salary and have to place him on their 40 man roster.
