The Colorado Devil Rays agree to trade: Connor Joe, OF (COL) - '22: $6M Joc Pederson, OF (SFG) - '22: $12M 2023 3rd Round Pick to the Chicago Blue Jays for: Robbie Grossman, OF (DET) - '22-'23: $10M DJ Herz, P (CHC) - prospect Angel Martinez, SS (CLE) - prospect Travis Swaggerty, OF (PIT) - prospect 2023 8th Round Pick
Colorado logic: I signed both Joe and Pederson with the hopes of shoring up my outfield and competing this year. That clearly isn't happening. Being able to get a return like this is exciting for me. Martine has had a rough start this year, but he is young and has a lot of promise. Swaggerty has had one down year, but played very well this year to rebound. He just got the call, so it'll be fun to watch him in Pittsburgh. Herz is a pitcher I am very high on (I love his K rate - among other things). Grossman is included to help make the salaries work (but is a valuable player when healthy) and I included the 3rd next year to be able to get all I wanted in the return. Great dealing with Drew as always.
I will need to make minor league cuts if trade is approved.

Confirmed. My outfield has been a problem all year, so I needed to make a move to compete for a championship. Joe and Joc should help my across the board, other than SB. Swaggerty was a tough piece for me to give up, as I am a big believer. Brandon agreed to take Grossman's contract and give the 3rd rounder as part of the deal and I felt that made it worth giving up a guy who could potentially contribute right away. Nice dealing with Brandon!
