Colorado (channeling his inner Jerry Dipoto) has come to terms with St. Louis on the following trade:
Colorado sends: Michael Kopech, RHP (CWS) - Prospect David Peterson, LHP (NYM) - Prospect Nick Madrigal, 2B (CWS) - Prospect Jose Siri, OF (CIN) - Prospect Luis Campusano, C (SDP) - PRospect Derek Hill, OF (DET) - Prospect Adonis Medina, RHP (PHI) - Prospect 2020 Draft 5th Round selection to the St. Louis A's for: Yonder Alonso, 1B (CWS) - '19: $14.5M Alex Wood, LHP (CIN) - '19: $5M Lance Lynn, RHP (TEX) - '19: $11M, '20: $15M Yeonis Cespedes, OF (NYM) - '19: $26M, '20: $22M Edwin Diaz, RHP (NYM) - '19: $0.5M, '20: $0.5M Gavin Lux, SS (LAD) - Prospect Oscar Mercado, OF (CLE) - Prospect Cionel Perez, LHP (HOU) - Prospect Shane Baz, RHP (TBR) - Prospect Lewis Thorpe, LHP (MIN) - Prospect 2019 Draft Pick 10.08
COLORADO LOGIC: Like all of my other deals today, this one started by looking for a draft pick. Eric showed interest in Kopech and Madrigal and it went from there. I love this return as it not only allows me to upgrade several prospects as well as add players that are ready to contribute now, but add arguably the best closer in the game in Diaz. I am taking on quite a bit of salary, but no long-term contracts. My vast collection of prospects worked in my favor in this deal and I am even more excited about the future of the Colorado Devil Rays. I feel like the A's received two impact prospects as well as several solid pieces, in addition to quite a bit of cap room going forward. This was a fun back-and-forth with Eric and I am glad we are both happy with the outcome of this deal.

after the many weeks that I have been staring at this roster I have inherited I just wanted to free up as much cash as possible to start fresh with guys that I want and make it my own stamping on this squad.
clearly if you read my intro I am a big time White Sox fan in this is a good time to be collecting White Sox farm hands and prospects and I am willing to wait on kopech to come back and take the risk of him becoming a bullpen arm and not a starter
giving up Diaz is tough however in a situation where I'm not expected to really do much damage then it's part of being able to build is moving a piece like that who is very cheap however he's not going to help me on the Longview before he gets too expensive.
I always love exchanging ideas with anybody will willing to engage in conversation you never know where it might wind up just like this situation here
Cheers

Another fascinating deal. I'm interested to see how this works out for both squads. Commish approved, processed, and draft thread updated. Please make sure to track the 2020 draft picks traded and received on your team pages. Chuck will also track on the master spreadsheet.
