Not sure if this has been covered but how are we handling when he signs? Is it the team he signs with gets first crack or is he a FA for the whole league to bid on? Also I assume any trades ( like J Upton ) are moot at this point correct? He stays with Ari franchise.

After rosters lock (which I agree they should be locked now), I think any FAs should be fair game in our auction with no one getting first dibs

I agree. I think rosters were locked when the second team draft started

And I agree with all of you. If rosters weren't locked prior to the 2nd franchise selection (which I suggested), well then- they're locked now.
Justin Upton is a NY DBack in our league. Bourn is fair game, et al other FA's who haven't signed yet.

I may be reading this wrong, but according to the League Rules if a FA resigns with the same team after we name keepers then whoever owns that team can add him back...
**Special Note (entering 2013 Inaugural Season ONLY) - Any Major League Free Agent that resigns with the same team (i.e. Boston's resigning David Ortiz) following our deadline to name keepers, may be added back to the Diamond Duos roster of that owned franchise. In order to do so, there must be a roster opening, which may mean said player has to replace a previously deemed keeper if 15 MLB'ers for that franchise have already been named.
Not sure if there is anyone else out there like Bourn, but would I be able to keep him if he signs within the next couple of weeks?
The rules were updated on the 19th, so this could have already changed...I don't really care either way.

You're reading that right.
Not sure what I think about the rule, especially since it doesn't specify a deadline...

I agree your reading it right but he would have to sign before he's made available to FA bidding. If he signs with ATL before he's put up for bid I'd say he's your player.

I think if you find out he signs with Atlanta in time you have to submit your keepers, then he's yours.

Agreed. That was my intent in this special 2013 only provision. If he resigns with Atlanta, or Lohse resigns with STL, or Marcum resigns with MIL, then those owners have first right of refusal to keep them. This is ONLY for this intial season! If one of these unsigned FA's hits our board and goes up for bid in Diamond Duos before one of these players signs, no deal. He's up for grabs here. Hopefully this works for us. I think it will.

This just became a moot point....
The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a trade to acquire outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Randall Delgado, infielder Martin Prado and minor leaguers Nick Ahmed, Brandon Drury and Zeke Spruill, sources tell ESPN.

As a Braves fan and the new proud owner of the Seattle Braves Franchise.....I'm in a glass case of emotion right now.

Taylor, think about it. If we didn't get this thing going right away and it took me longer to pull in owners, or we went for 30 as opposed to 15, you'd have Justin Upton on your team too!
