An interesting situation has occurred in our league that has not happened before. Chad Green was signed by the Cleveland Nationals in 2016 to a 4 year Major League contract( 16-19: 2.2 Mil). He then was released in November of 2016. He was responsible for 25% of this contract for 17-19. The next year in 2017, Chad Green was drafted in the minors draft by the Cleveland Nationals. My question to the league is should Chad Green have been able to be picked up in a minors draft by the Cleveland Nationals after previously signing a "Major League" deal ? I would like to hear what other owners think about this situation.
Thanks, Chuck( Phila. Astros)

If he was still minors eligible, I have no problem with it.

I had a situation at the major league level a few seasons back with Marco Estrada. I had cut him from my roster in mid season. I had remaining responsibilities for that season and the following season. No one picked up Estrada through Free Agency the following season. I acquired him as Free agent blind bid. No one saw this for a period of time. Scott picked this up and informed me that I could no longer have him at the lower price because I had "Remaining obligations" for Estrada. So I had to pay the higher price to keep him. I agree with this situation at the major league level. I would like to see this situation addressed at the minor league level also. I think every other team could have the opportunity to pick Chad Green up as a minor league player except the team that already signed him to a "Major league" contract. If that team were to pick up Chad green as a "Minor League" pickup, he should get him for his original contract that he signed him originally, which was 2.2 mil (2017-2019. Just my "Two Cents"!!!

I have no problem with it, BUT... Cleveland still has to be responsible for the cap hit for however more remaining years.
