Vidal Brujan, 2B (TBR) - Prospect
to the Colorado Devil Rays for:
Eliezer Alvarez, 2B (PHI) - Prospect
Cavan Biggio, 2B (TOR) - Prospect
Jake Stinnett, RHP, (CHC) - Prospect
Devil Rays logic: Steve was looking to shed some salary and I was intrigued. Both Ramirez and Bruce are an improvement over several players on my active roster and I have the cap space to make it work. I was interested in adding O'Hearn as the legitimate 1B prospect I didn't have (despite his struggles late last season). Giving up two 2B prospects required getting one in return and I have been high on Brujan for a while. Alvarez struggles in 2017, but could bounce back. For me, Alvarez and O'Hearn are similar in that they could have good bounce back years in 2018. Alvarez is lower on the depth chart (Hernandez and Kingery). Biggio has struggled since being drafted, but has an outstanding pedigree. Stinnett has struggled with injuries the last few seasons, but has been more than serviceable. I didn't want to overpay in prospects with the salary I was adding, but I think this deal worked out for both teams. Good dealing with Steve and good luck to him moving forward!
