Pittsburgh Orioles send:

1) 1st round 2018 minor league pick (1.7)
2) Garrett Whitley - OF - Rays

-My reasoning for this trade is that I wanted to add a young outfield player & get back into the 1st round of this draft. I previously traded away my 1st round selection. I am also limited in salary cap space for this year and who knows how much Hosmer will garner in the open market. The Pittsburgh Orioles have plenty of cap space and showed interest in making Hosmer a centerpiece for his team in the future. I hope this trade works out for both teams. Of course the trade negotiations were very smooth as usual.

I am using my Cap space and Minor league depth to slowly add to my core to build around. I was looking to add a CI in FA and this ensures me that I can match any offer to Hosmer.

I really like hosmer as he is a solid source of power and really high average. He is relatively young and should be a major piece of my team when I am competing. in a year or two.
