LA receives:
2nd overall pick in 2017 minor league draft
Anderson Espinoza (prospect)
Randy Arrozarena (prospect)
LA makes this trade as the first deal in the rebuild that this franchise needs. Grabbing the 2nd overall pick, gives me 2 of the first 3 picks, as well as picking up a somehow still young high ceiling pitcher and a great athlete in Arrozarena. I love deGrom, but I’m a ways off from being competitive and feel like this helps my team more longterm.

So SO SO sorry to do this but I read this as second round pick not pick 1.2.
Reading back to the messages this was my fault. I am really wanting my player at 1.2
I guess this is why both teams confirm.

Ryan and I have reworked this trade to:
Jacob deGrom 18: .5
LA receives:
Pick 1.09 in 2018 Minors draft
Anderson Espinoza (prospect)
Randy Arrozarena (prospect)
Thomas Eshelman (prospect)
My reasoning for the trade as a whole is that there are 5 or so top talents in the draft not including Ohtani and I get to choose between one of them. Scott was so nice to point out on Twitter my embarrassment of riches so I though I could use some of these propsects to start really looking towards what the rebuild will look like. With our rules I will be able to keep Degrom for 3 years with minimal salary and the option to extend him even further after that.
Good luck to Ryan in his rebuild and hope this deal works out for both squads.
As for what I gave up the hardest piece to give up in this draft was Arrozena. he looks to be a great OF of the future in OAK with many Cespedes comps out there. Espinoza once a top pitching prospect has suffered TJ last year and will be a ways away if and when he regains his form.
