Pittsburgh sends: 2018 3rd Round Pick Kevin Newman (prospect) Phil Bickford (Prospect) Masahiro Tanaka (franchise Tag Applied) 18:15M 19:15M 10:15M
Texas sends: Span, Denard CF,OF - SF 18:7.7M Maurer, Brandon RP - SD 18:6M 19:8.4M Brian Anderson -Mia (prospect) Franklin Barreto - Oak (prospect)
My youth movement continues as I am trying to be competitive starting in 2019. Tanaka is a good pitcher and I believe will have a bounce back season but I value the youth in this deal more. Both Barreto and Anderson had about a 25 game cup of coffee in the bigs this year and both struggled. I still believe Barreto is a good power speed combination from a middle IF spot. As for Anderson I'm hoping that the power develops a little more but I see him as a safe Utility player and depth at 3B which is very valuable in deep fantasy leagues such as this one. He should at the very least get lots of playing time with nobody left in Miami.
As for the prospects giving up they are both guys I believed in but have fallen IMO. I am looking to clear some roster space for the upcoming draft this year.
Span and Maurer are both salary dumps for Steve to make the deal work.
As usual it was a lot of back and forth with Steve as neither of us really wanted to budge but we came to an agreement and I wish him luck in his upcoming push for a championship.

Approved
Felt like this deal was a win win. F Barreto has lost a little of the prospect luster and by unloading the two dead money contracts I’ve added Tanaka for no additional salary. I also swapped Anderson for Newman which in my mind is a wash. Picked up Bickford in the deal who is a former top prospect that may or may not pan out but worth the dart throw. Hope this deal is a success for both teams.

To clarify, Pittsburgh has used its 2018 Franchise Tag on Tanaka. He is then trading Tanaka to Texas.
Please clarify this entire deal is correct. Team names were not listed and it was very difficult to decipher who was getting who. Minor leaguers were also listed going to the wrong teams.
This deal is not approved yet. Who's getting the 3rd round pick?

Not really sure where the comfusion comes in. Texas is receiving the pick from Pitt.
That is correct Pitt tagged Tanaka then traded him to Texas

Things were mixed up in the original post. Please always list which team is sending which players/picks. I had to add that info and screwed some things up along the way. Thanks.
