As most of you know I play in like a gazillion leagues. What can I say; it's my passion away from work. Quite a few of the leagues I play have tags similar if not identical to the tags we use. However; in those other leagues we have the ability to trade them (only for one year in advance of course). The trading of tags are extremely valuable and therefore puts a lot thought and strategy into trades that involve them. I'd like to put it to a vote this off-season that we allow the trading of tags starting with the 2018 season.

Also what's the rule on expiring contracts? Can we trade these players or do we have to slap a tag on them before trading?

I know from last year you were aloud to trade players who were on the last year of their contract to another team so they then could put a restrictive tag on them.

My memory is that guys can be traded and then RFA'd, but not traded and then Franchised.
I can go either way on what Jon is proposing.

Drew is correct. The rules allow you to trade FA players for another owner to RFA. But that owner still only gets 2 RFA tags.
You are also allowed to trade players AFTER they've been tagged - either RFA or Franchise. Of course there's never a guarantee that an RFA tagged player will be retained because you never know if you'll be able to match the high offer.
The only thing we're NOT able to do is trade a player for another owner to then place a Franchise Tag on him. If the league wants to put this up for a vote then go for it. Remember any rule changes need a 2/3 vote for to pass, which would be at least 10 out of 15 owners and ALL owners would need to vote on this.

Then Yes Scott, I would like to put up for vote the trading of tags. Let me know and I can post a poll and the several ways to do it. Then I can feel just like a real life politician and start lobbying for votes, lmao.

What is the scoop on this? are we voting once the 2018 page opens up?
I think its wise to get the vote done sooner rather than later as it can really affect the off season plans for lots of teams.

Go ahead and create a poll now. Whoever wants to do it, do it. Then we'll get all the owners to vote.
I'm distributing 2017 payouts tonight but won't be able to work on the league and getting ProBoards and Fantrax set up for 2018 until later this month.

Actually, the Fantrax site "Official League End Date" is this Sunday night October 8th. I can't distribute any winnings until that time so the top 3 winners should look for those payouts on Monday 10/9.
