There's the rare case that a player qualifies for four years of arbitration (and just two years of renewal). Brandon Moss was one of these players, settled for 1.6M his first year, but is eligible for Arb2-Arb3-Arb4. Would his salary then be 2-3-4?
Also, for our purposes, are arbitration contracts guaranteed or are they basically club options? Basically, do we get to non tender down the road?
Edit: Just read in the rules that club options are recognized. Does this mean the club option is guaranteed, we get to choose to exercise the option or not the year it occurs, or we get to choose to exercise the option now regardless of when it is for?

If a player has a contract with a club option I feel like we should wait until that option year to decide whether to use the option.
It seems to me like one of the last questions to be answered before we select keepers is whether or not we can no tender players in their arbitration years...
My view is that arbitration contracts are NOT guaranteed and each year we treat their contract as a club option.

right, the arbitration years are being treated as club options so you can non tender players.
club options are decided the offseason before they kick in. you can either exercise the option or pay the buyout as a cap hit.
if there's a horrible club option you know you will not want in the future, you can decline it this preseason without paying the buyout.

I just want to make sure I'm clear on this let's take player A. He has a contract for 500k this year and then arb years 1-4. So next year his salary becomes 1M and I pay. Then in 2015 his salary becomes 2M and I decide he's not worth it so I release him. There is no salary cap penalty for releasing him correct?

Also if we have a player who's next arbitration year says it's actually his ARB 3 is it a 3M increase for being an A3 or a 1M increase for being his first arbitration year in our league?

correct. you can choose not to sign him at 2 million and he becomes a FA
the salary for his 3rd arbitration year would be one million more than what it is this year, his 2nd arbitration year
