How games are required to be eligible at a new position?
What site are we using to establish positions?
I notice it lists RF CF LF so we must roster at least 1 OF who played those specific OF positions?

Standard eligibility is 20 games played at a position last year. If there's a rookie that makes a team and doesn't have 20 games played at that position but has won the job at a position, I think he should be eligible to start the season at that position - but I assume this is debatable.
Pitchers may be a bit different (for SP and RP) but I'll get back to you on that later. I haven't used Fantrax before but I'm hoping that after I set the league site up with all of our roster positions, we'll be able to see where each player qualifies.
If anyone can recommend another source for now until Fantrax is ready to go, please post for all of us. Yes, I do want to have 1 LF, 1 CF, 1 RF specifically and then 2 other OF's (can be any OF position).
Thanks Steve.

If you go on rotochamp.com they break down all players by outfield positions so you can see who is eligible for LF CF RF I am not sure if its 20 games or not they use but it has a breakdown that might help. we used it in another league its free

So if it's 20 games in the pre season what is it in season?

How do I handle someone like A Ogando who was a RP last year but is slated to be in the rotation this year? Can I still put him in a RP only slot.

I believe you should be able to at the outset of the year since he carries that eligibility from last year. It's a good question though as to if he holds that RP eligibility all season if he only is used as a starter this year. In one of my other leagues we actually reset eligibility at the All-Star break and then it's based on 20 games (for position players) this season, and 10 games for a pitcher this season. Should we do that in this league?
For someone like Victor Martinez, I'm not sure if he holds catcher eligibility going into this season. If he does it would be from 2011 because he didn't catch last year. But he's not going to catch this season and he definitely shouldn't be eligible there in the second half if indeed he is eligible there in the first half.

At this point, I'm pro-simplicity.

Then however Fantrax allows me to set it up on the site will be what we use. I'm for as much simplicity as we can bring to the table now. There's plenty other stuff going on here that's not as simple as position eligibility.

I'm for simplicity on this. 20/5 rule and no resets at the all star break

Just wondering where the 5 games played this year came about? I never had that in our rules and was actually thinking it's usually 10 - at least in most leagues I've played in before. 5 certainly gives a lot more flexibility in roster.

you're right. It might be 5 games started or 10 games played
