The Colorado Devil Rays agree to trade Archie Bradley, RHP (ARI): '17-'20: $0.5M Carlos Santana, 1B (CLE): '17: $12M Stephen Vogt, C (OAK): '17: $6M Tyler Beede, RHP (SF): Prospect
to the St. Louis A's for Scott Kazmir, LHP (LAD: '17: $11.2M Carson Kelly, C (STL): Prospect Mitchell Hansen, OF (LAD): Prospect Yandy Diaz, 3B (CLE): Prospect
Devil Rays logic: I like this trade due to the quality of prospects I am getting in return. Santana and Vogt can still produce, but Kelly is the top rated C prospect in baseball (per MLB.com) and Diaz will be knocking on the door this season. Beede and Bradley were not easy to give up on, but I feel as if the pitching I still have in the minors is high quality. Also, saving a little salary in the '17 season will help me to be in on a couple of FAs I have my eye on. Good working with Ace on this one. Good luck to the A's!

I confirm. This trade makes sense for me because I'm all in for 2017 and getting Santana and Vogt helps to fill two more of my holes on offense for a reasonable price since I was able to also move Kazmir and his salary to offset most of Santana's salary. It hurt giving up both Diaz and Kelly but I know that's the sacrifice you gotta make when you go all in. I'm also excited about the addition of both Beede and Bradley because Bradley is a solid young pitcher who should continue to improve and is affordable for the next few years while Beede is a top 100 prospect and should either be in the Majors this season or next. I hope this is a deal that ends up working out for both sides.
