Reason for the deal: I prefer the upside I'm getting back. I've had my eye on both guys and while I think Swanson has the chance to be the best guy in the deal it's a risk I'm willing to take. Overall I'm pretty deep at SS and have some guys who can play the position. Montero was just a salary dump.

With the state of this team, I needed to decide fairly quickly which direction to take. I am a Braves fan so some could see this as a homer move. I see it as getting the best young SS (right now) who will be playing everyday and who knows what his ceiling is. I am against dealing top prospects like the two I just dealt however that is the price for getting Swanson as Albies is still unproven at this stage and Collins to me is a bit overrated after reading numerous scouting reports on him as well as watching some video. Montero is a backup at this stage and the cap space to me is more useful than having him clog up a roster spot and my cap. Jackson is a personal favorite of mine whose luster has worn off some, but I will take a gamble that he can put it together at some point.
