It's time for the new guys to get involved and we hit the ground running....
Colorado sends: Wil Myers - '17: $0.5M SP Aaron Nola - '17: $0.5M 2B Jonathan Schoop - '17: $0.5M C Tom Murphy - Prospect
Pittsburgh Sends: 1B/UT Carlos Santana - '17: $12M CF/OF Andrew McCutchen - '17: $14M
Colorado rationale: The Rays already appear to be a good team with a very decent system. This trade allows me to upgrade at 1B as well as hope for a bounce back year from Cutch (not that last year was a terrible one mind you) with only salary commitments for this season. The hardest part of this deal was Murphy because he is a highly rated catcher, but with McGuire and O'Conner I could afford to let him go. I was never high on Wil Myers and Nola has been very inconsistent to this point in his young career. Overall a pretty fair deal. It was great working with Brodie. Smooth and easy negotiations.

Nothing Like hitting the ground running.
Rationale behind the deal for me was to decide on the decision to break my team down and build it my way.
2017 will be a big year for will Myers and Schoop and I will get to see if 2016 was a fluke or not. I will have the chance to RFA one or both in 2017. Aaron Nola is a top prospect with excellent command and Tom Murphy is a top Catching Prospect moving forward.
Since the Orioles are in a win tomorrow mode, neither McCutchen nor Santana were part of the plans moving forward as they are both approaching their age 31 seasons. Also relieves some Salary that I can use going forward.
