Detroit trades the following to Stl.
Mike Moustakas 17: $3m Trevor Bauer 17&18: $500k Jake Thompson 17-20: $500k (Just checking, would 2017 be Thompson's $0 year?) Franklin Barreto (prospect) Taylor Jungmann 17&18: $500k
Stl sends the following to Detroit
Corey Kluber 17&18: $15m Carlos Gomez 17&18: $29,120,000 Colin McHugh Alex Reyes (prospect)
Simple trade for me. I have the CAP space to take on the monstrosity of a contract that is Gomez and a total of $90m while shoring up my SP and prospects to try and make a run for it in 2017. I hate giving up the youth, but after watching Kluber K 8 out of the first 9 how could I not. Hope the trade works out for both teams.

I agree. Simply put I wasn't going to retain McHugh by free agency so he was just a throw in. Being able to get Bauer and his drones (he does come with the drones right?) was a big part of the deal because I replaced Kluber with an MLB starter who I hope may be close to figuring things out. Moose is also a welcome addition because I believe he'll be a very good player for the foreseeable future. FB and JT are two prospects that I hold in high regards and hopefully JT will be ready to step into my rotation full time next spring. This deal allows for me to get younger while freeing up a ton of salary for next year and beyond. It hurt to lose Kluber but getting that Gomez contract off my payroll helps a ton.
