Justification: I felt like I needed another mid-rotation arm to stay in contention this year. Gio has overperformed this year, but I think he can be a solid arm and hopefully get some Wins for me, while potentially boosting me a spot or two in ERA/WHIP. Henry was willing to eat some of the salary to make it work. Holmes & Sims have some upside, but there's a lot of risk with both and they won't help me this year.

Agreed. I have a lot of solid pitching and I felt would be good to lighten up. It also makes me feel less worried about a possible roster crunch in the medium term. Holmes and Sims are nice prospects, and I don't mind taking a salary dump given Gio is moving back in the trade.

Also to make cap room, Cleveland will release Cashner upon completion of the trade (unless another trade is done in the interim which allows us to stay within the salary cap)
