Detroit has decided to send the following to the Chicago Blue Jays
SS: Addison Russell- CHC 16: $500k, 17: $500k, 18: $500k
OF: Jackie Bradley Jr. - BOS 16: $500k, 17: $500k, 18: $500k
P: Joe Ross 16-19 $500k
In Xchange for the following:
Tyson Ross SD 16: 5.6M
Max Kepler (Prospect)
Franklin Barreto (Prospect)
Trent Clark (Prospect)
This is an easy trade to make for me. I'm not going anywhere this year and with the lack of trading partners making the best deal I can. While I feel Russell is a solid rebuilding piece I feel that Barreto can and will be better and I can wait the year for him to be up. Hey, they didn't trade Josh Donaldson for nothing (I hope). JBJ is an all glove type player for me and feel that Clark and/or Kepler will both out perform what his ceiling is. The Ross swap is a little hard for me as Tyson's contract expires this year, but can RFA him (of which I have none now) or use him as a trade chip later on. Drew to confirm.
