Texas offers 2 years 30M AAS 15M 2016 - 2017 15M
* Commish note- we've already discussed this about Ortiz. Whether you restructure or not, on a 2 year deal, if he does retire then you're responsible for 25% of the 2017 salary. What that means is if you use the maximum 40% from AAS rule and go 16: $9M and 17: $21M then you'd be on the hook for 25% of $21M next year ($5.25M). OR if you go the other way and pay $21M this year then you'd only be responsible for $2.25M next year. Of course this is all moot if you're not the high bidder.

I guess I missed that. The last note I read said that rules were staying the same and that since we all knew he said he's retiring if you give him a 2 year deal and he doesn't retire your on hook but if he does retire no penalty. Never saw that the j Moyer rule was amended

Jamie Moyer Rule actually only refers to RFA, and that hasn't been amended.
Please refer to our thread about Question about player retirement in the Draft Discussion board. Let's move this discussion there so we can take it out of this player's FA offers.
