Usually an International signee must be part of the Minors draft before each season. Since Tanaka did not sign until today, he is not eligible to be chosen in our Minors draft. I need to confirm with my co-commishes but Tanaka should be eligible to be offered a free agent contract next month once we start bidding on free agents. There will be a point when he's given an initial contract offer by a team, and then other teams may increase the offers. Again, this will not happen until our Free Agent bidding begins next month - I believe set to start on February 15.
