Colorado Devil Rays trade: Ben Zobrist, UT (CHC): '17:$8M/ '18:$10M 2017 MILB Draft 3rd Round (Pick 3.9) to the Boston Padres for: Mauricio Dubon, SS (MIL): - Prospect Kyle Tucker, OF (HOU): - Prospect Michael Kopech, SP (CWS): - Prospect Adonis Medina, SP (PHI): - Prospect
Devil Rays logic: Wow. What a fun day this turned out to be. I had to decide two extremely competitive offers with a very different make-up of types of players. In the end, this is the deal that best sets me up for the future. Losing a super utility like Zobrist would hurt any team, but adding two top 50 prospects in Tucker and Kopech definitely eases the burden. Dubon has the potential to be a difference maker with the bat and could wind up as a Zobrist-type player due to tall of the depth that Milwaukee has acquired. Medina is very young but is projectable with the upside of a middle of the rotation starter. This was not an easy decision, but one that will benefit me most. Good working with Scott.

Agreed. I didn't come into today even considering moving Tucker, Kopech et al, but like Brandon says, Zobrist is that MI/OF super utility that should put up another great year (or two) in that awesome Cubs lineup and he'll definitely help my team out. In order for me to get the draft pick I had to up the ante and make this package of 4 very good prospects available. I see Tucker and Kopech being studs in the not too distant future, and I love Dubon. Got to see him in person in Portland last July and he rocked it in the AFL this year too. Medina is a flyer I grabbed last year and good luck to Brandon with his development. I'm just hoping this 3rd round lottery ticket works out for me too.
Good talks as always with Mr. Colorado.
