to the Detroit Brewers for:
Blake Trahan, SS (CIN): - Prospect
Tyler Kolek, SP (MIA): - Prospect
Daniel Missaki, SP (MIL): - Prospect
2017 FYPD 3rd Round Draft Pick
Devil Rays logic: Again, this move is about building for the future. This is the 2nd player in the final year of his contract that I have been able to walk away from while gaining several prospects. All three prospects in the trade are still in high A or below, but rate well in several aspects of the game. Trahan has been high on my likability list since seeing him play at LA-Lafayette (Sun Belt conference like my Texas State Bobcats and now defending CWS champion Coastal Carolina), and I think that he is very underrated. Kolek has a ton of potential, the key question is how does he bounce back from injury. That injury question is why Missaki (111K on 106.1 career innings and just 20 years old) and the draft pick were added. This is a win-win for both Jon and I as the goals for our respective franchises aligned. Great working with him!
