Hmmm, I like Carlos Beltran!
I would vote no on something like that too. The way I look at it is, each team can designate 1 player as their Franchise Tag. That player can then be kept OR traded with the tag. If Drew "franchise tags" Derek Jeter and THEN trades him to me, I'd get the whole package but I should still have the opportunity to Franchise Tag my own player, right?
For RFAs, each team can designate 2 of their players "Restricted." If someone wants to trade a FA before he's tagged, that's fine. Give the new owner the opportunity to RFA him. OR, trade player after the bidding is over and the player is either signed by a new owner or retained by original owner.
That's my take anyway. Trying to keep things simple and not too complicated with these 2 types of tags. Remember, we also have Prospect Tags which will come into play after an original Diamond Duos minor leaguer has been called up and completes 4 seasons at $500K. this Prospect Tag will allow a team to keep that player for 2 more years at $3M and $5M. Don't believe we'll see these for another couple years, right?

But seriously Scott, you interested in Jeter. I'd oblige.

Any decision on this? Lots of guys are getting signed and I may need to tag some if I don't want to lose them.

Below is what I posted on 11/25. Nobody has argued so let's go with this and teams can start naming, or at least thinking about, their Franchise Tag player. Deadline to designate is January 5th. I will update the Franchise Tag section of our League Constitution to reflect this process.
Here's what we're doing... 1) ANY Diamond Duos free agent may be designated with a Franchise Tag. One (1) per team each season.
2) Instead of going with real MLB contract numbers (as some players may have already signed in the offseason), and to take away confusion of contracts that may have been extended in-season, we will use a standard Franchise Tag salary of $15M per season.
3) A team may Franchise Tag a player for up to a maximum of 5 years. A Franchise Tag can only be used on a player once.
